Ironside Disc Golf Course
The companion 18-hole course at Three Peaks — playing at over 6,700 feet through Utah's granite and juniper landscape.
Ironside Disc Golf Course is the second 18-hole course at BLM’s Three Peaks Recreation Area near Cedar City, Utah. Built alongside Three Peaks through the same partnership between the Southern Utah University Disc Golf Club and BLM Utah’s Cedar City Field Office, Ironside plays at 6,761–7,444 feet elevation through dramatic high desert terrain.
Course features
- 18 holes at high elevation through granite formations and pinion/juniper
- Large concrete tee pads
- Innova DISCatcher baskets
- Course map signage at every tee pad
- Dual pin placements
- Shared parking and kiosk with Three Peaks course
- Free with donation box
What two courses prove
The existence of two full 18-hole courses at a single BLM recreation area is significant. It demonstrates that:
- BLM is willing to invest in disc golf at scale — not just a single pilot hole layout
- Demand justified expansion — the first course succeeded enough to warrant a second
- The recreation area benefits — disc golf draws visitors to Three Peaks who might not otherwise come for hiking alone
- Infrastructure can be shared — parking, kiosks, and signage serve both courses efficiently
Elevation and terrain
Playing at nearly 7,500 feet, Ironside proves that disc golf works in the rugged, arid landscapes that characterize most BLM land in the western United States. This matters because a common concern is whether disc golf is suitable for BLM terrain — Ironside answers that definitively.
For visitors
Both courses are free, open year-round (weather permitting), and located about 10 miles west of Cedar City via Highway 56. The Three Peaks Recreation Area also offers hiking, mountain biking, OHV trails, and camping.
